Margaret, Vanilla and I went to the Camargue for 2 days to do some drawing. Left Monday at 8.00 in the morning and came back at 10.30 the next evening. As you can see siestas were a must for this non stop trip!. They look so sweet!
It was great, Aigues Mortes the first day for eating, drinking, sight seeing, boat trip and drawing. Aigues Mortes translates as literally Dead Water there is an Aigues Vivres (Live Water) nearby. I think it means still or moving water not clean or fetid water.
Stayed at Mas Le Sauvageon near to the bird sanctuary in the country so ideal for us. Very welcoming and tranquil.
Second morning up early and drawing the white horses and egrets in the countryside. Then off to Arles ( slight error on sign reading) coffee stop on way. Eating, drinking and sight seeing in Arles. Love Arles could always spend longer there. Ate at Van Gogh’s Night Cafe and next door for coffee at Bar Tambourin. That coffee was the best ever! The owner is a former matador and there was his suit of lights and photos of those days. We had great food in Aigues Mortes and Arles
Then it was straight back to the parc ornithologique de pont de Gau to draw the flamingos and see many other birds. I want to go back later in the year when the flamingos do their mating dance and have the bright pink plumage.
